Jaguar the furious Panthera onca
Jaguar the mostly known car brand, named by ferocious mammal from South America, one of the largest cat of the world, which consist of meaning “he who kills with one leaps”. One can confused with leopard but their coat patterns makes distinction from a jaguar.
The Jaguars are found in Maxico, Belzie, Bolivia, Coastarica, Colombia, Ecuador, Gyana, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Brazil. They are found to roam around the america once, but now most of them are found in Amazon river basin.
The overall length of a Jaguar is 7ft and average weight is 150-250 pounds. The yellow and tan coat with a compact body, a big head and powerfull jaws. Coat’s colour may differ from reddish brown to black and have black spots that is different from leopard and cheetah. These black spots are shaped as roses and called ‘rosettes’.
Generally, jaguars hunts deer, peccary, crocodiles, tapirs, turtles, fish. They can hunt in water as well as dry land. They usually live alone in their territory which is marked by crawling trees or waste. They found in swamps, savannas or rainforests. Well they are called as opportunistic hunter. It directly bites to kill, in the skull between the ears of prey, piercing their brain. Most of the time, they like to ambush rather than chasing, usually they attack from the blind spot of prey.
Jaguars can mate year-round and mate for 3-4 days. After mating the male jaguars left and female jaguar mke nest like other cats and give birth after 100-110 days of pregnancy. the little jaguars stay with mothers for1-2 years.
Jaguars loves the water, that’s why they found near the water sources. This mammals are scientifically named as Panthera onca. On the other hand the black jaguars are known as Black Panther.
