How the name Zabivake? (Euriasian Wolf)
Zabivaka, is the mascot of FIFA World Cup-2018, arranged in Russia, generally taken from Eurasian Wolf. It may be known as common wolf with scientific name Canis lupus lupus is found in Europe and former Soviet Union’s steppe.
Eurasian Wolf belong to dog family exactly, with hight of 2.8 ft and length of 3-5 ft. This largest wolf subspecies has about 40kg in weight. They have fur which contains white, cream, gray, black or combined colour.
Like other wolves, Eurasian Wolf is social animal, lives with wolf pack, and contains 20 or more member, leaded by an alpha. They prefer to hunt in their own territory that may vary in size based on region. This territory could be from 120 to 1000 sq kilometers that they mark by scent and warn off by howling.
The reproduction system of Eurasian Wolves starts between January and March, by mating with male and female wolf. 6 pups born after 7 weeks. Male wolf then collect the food and female wolf remains to take care of pups. This pups, as they grow, they stay with the pack 1-4 years until they are capable to make their own pack.
Wolves are non-vegetarian, well everyone knows that. They hunt their prey with their pack, generally the moufflon, chamois, saiga, wild boar, red deer, roe deer are most common. Sometimes they prey hares, frogs, and wisent. In Asia, sometimes they seen to hunt down the yak.
Wolves are ferocious mammal, and their population around the world is stable.
